General Tips and Tactics

Finding a service that fits your needs and doesn’t empty your wallet is often times a herculean task.  There are literally thousands of websites on the net that allow you to search for people.  How do you know which one to use?  You can use Gov-records (our reviewed product) or you can search for yourself.  If you do choose to find your own product you must remember a few things:

• Always make sure the site that you plan to use is reputable.  Do a Google search for the site and find out if there is any negative reviews or scam alerts for the service.  Usually if the service is a bad one, someone will have mentioned it on the web.
• Shop around for the best price.  Once you have found some reputable services, compare the pricing between them to ensure that you are receiving the best value.
• Before you purchase a people search service, make sure that you have enough information on your subject.  You will at least need a first, last name and age.  With this very basic information, you should be able to receive some information about your subject.

Your first site of choice would be Facebook.  Use the friend finder on Facebook to search for your subject.  You will probably receive multiple results back but you can sift through those results for the person that you are looking for.  Often times a person’s Facebook profile will contain a lot of personal information and this information can be used to track down the subject’s employer, general location, marital status and more.

You can also use the obvious choice when conducting a people search.  The almighty Google can turn up a treasure trove of information concerning the person you are searching for.  A Google search can turn up employment, address, phone numbers and even clubs and organizations that the subject might belong too.  You can conduct this search by typing in a well defined search string into the Google search bar.  Using the person’s first name, last name, age and last known address usually provides the best results.

The best way to conduct your free search would be to use city and county courthouse records.  Many court houses now have a search enabled online presence on the web.  These services are the very best way to find out personal information about your subject.  They will allow you to search through civil and criminal records at blazing fast speed.  Most of these sites are free to use by the public but there are some that do charge a minimal fee.  Conduct a search on your favorite search engine for your local court house to determine if it provides these services.
